Street Party

We had our street party on a sunny Sunday.
We spent the whole day on our street with our neighbours.
I made blueberry pie and it got all eaten.
C and D made some yummy savory pies.
Our street is the best and it makes living here in London so much nicer.

addicted to laundry

What is the weather like?
Is it a good day for laundry?
Laundry makes me happy.

a cupboard of possibility

This cupboard was an impulse buy from the Stoneydown Folk Festival. I have for sometime wanted something like this for my new home. It is still in our old living room waiting the new home. All the things I could fill it up with!

un pique-nique

We have had such lovely weather. (Don´t I sound English, writing that!)
My son wants to have a picnic every day at our back garden.
Today it was nothing fancy, just chicken nuggets and toast.

To achieve a normal life

Yesterday I went for a Zumba class for the first time in a long while. I was happy and full of energy when I got home. I had forgotten how much fun exercise can be. Just can´t wait for next week. At the evening I watched TV. When ever I get homesick I watch Wallander on BBC. How the Swedes can film a summer evening! Why am I writing about such an everyday day things? Because now finally after an year living here I am in a place where I have time for things that lots of people do on a non-special days in their lives.

On a standstill

Helsinki at my background, I took this picture on a happy moment. Is it so that I can only be truly happy in Helsinki? As an immigrant I have a piece of me somewhere else. In London, I am past the tourist experience, but still struggling with settling. Lately I have felt that I am out of words, out of blogposts. It feel like I have taken all the conventional pictures and keep on repeating myself. With my pictures and with my life I am at a standstill.
Until couple of days ago this was how I felt. Now little by little I am moving again. I have plans for the fall, meaning a maybe job. My son is starting school in September. I have to buy him a school uniform?! And with my blog, I have decided to be less perfectionist. I will write my blog with sometimes bad pictures and sometimes just text about my life. After all my blog is a reflection of me and it helps with the feeling of being lost.
So, join me on this journey to become a person of two cultures! We have only began!
