Walking the Victoria Line

We went walking with my friend Tania. Taking photographs of London helped me to settle here. In the end it became an exhibition to the E17 Art Trail and I made it into a blog. Go and have a look at Walking the Victoria Line

ends of earth place

  Finland is an open plain.
Here in East London I brush away my exotic blond hair.
As I reach down and whisper to my son in my mother tongue,
I am part of Eastern Europe. While Finnish is not Slavic, not even European,
it is from a distant, ends of earth place in the North, Finland.
When life seems hectic in London,
I return in my mind to the moments when these pictures were taken.
I am the only human in the landscape. Sun is setting. A blizzard is coming.

summer memories

What is photography but restoring memories.
It is trying to capture the fleating image of childhood,
reaching for summers  that are perfect and without a worry.
If you would ask my son,
he would not describe this summer that way.
For him it was full of adventure and hard steps to learn.
My hard drive has been full lately, physically and mentally.
Jumping from one country to another made me this time immobile in my imagenary.
Now at balance, I can look back to my photos.

winter of my memories

I was looking through photos for a project and stumbled op on this one. When I think of winter, this is the photo that I reminisce. What does your winter memory look like?

Following Art

A man asked me in Cambridge, where I was from. I answered London. He then asked, where I was originally from. Oh, yes I am from Finland. Sometimes I get weary to answer these questions. About this and lots more is our exhibition Follow the Fellow at Murray Edwards College in Cambridge.
Genevieve Guetemme took pictures of Fellows and Followers homes,
places with contemporary stamped on them.
Elke Papp in her costume for the performance for the opening.
I am very happy to have my work shown in Cambridge. I am also holding private video screenings for people at my home in London. With my video pieces I am finally able to make sense of couple of last years madness. My videos are a proof of what I did I. Could I just show them next time somebody asks what do I do for living?

busy with the Follow the fellow exhibition

Here at Murray Edwards College in Cambridge I will have an exhibition showing my photos starting next Saturday. With two other artist, Genevieve Guetemme and Elke Papp, we have been planning this over two years. It is great to see that the day is  almost finally here. The exhibition is called Follow the Fellow and in it we tell the story of what it is like to move for love. Moving is not always easy, but a roller coaster ride of feelings, as you can see in  my blog. Genevieve and Elke have a brilliant website Follow the Fellow about the whole experience of following.

home number 5

We live in a small apartment on Maneesikatu.
It is dark, but homy.
This is the tree outside our window.
I have a habit of photographing trees that I see every day.
These tree pictures become a lineal of time.
We got lots of books from the library,
for reading but also for decoration.
Mural from our corridor.
Sea is near and the city center.
Statue at our Varsapuisto (Foal park).
My own foal feels so big.
