my birthday

It is my birthday today.
I asked my husband to take a picture of me in bed just woken.
Have I changed from my profile picture taken 7 or 8 years ago?
For my birthday we went to see the America after the Fall exhibition at the RA.
Here I am as a farmers wife after Grant Wood´s American Gothic.

I am celebrating my birthday with these flower.

Pastoral with J

Sometimes I get the urge to jump on a train and head somewhere just by myself.
On Sunday I went to Cambridge to see my good friend J.
We walked to Grantchester while talking about life and getting used to England.
J is in love with Cambridge.
The walk and the company made me see the landscapes magic.
It was just like in Jane Austen books or a painting by John Constable.

dark and snow

Last day of our holiday we got snow.
I took a walk in the quiet.
New Year was celebrated early with children in focus.
We did our New Years tins.
My steps, my childhood friends steps and rabbit hops.

ends of earth place

  Finland is an open plain.
Here in East London I brush away my exotic blond hair.
As I reach down and whisper to my son in my mother tongue,
I am part of Eastern Europe. While Finnish is not Slavic, not even European,
it is from a distant, ends of earth place in the North, Finland.
When life seems hectic in London,
I return in my mind to the moments when these pictures were taken.
I am the only human in the landscape. Sun is setting. A blizzard is coming.

Kew Garden in the Fall

Kew Garden is beautiful in the Fall.
I went there with my husband, mother-in-law and my son.
The shades of red and yellow colour are amazing.
We were lucky with weather. It was sunny and dry.
We had bought Kew Kids leaflet the previous time we visited Kew Garden.
We just took it with us and it was still good and interesting.
My son enjoyed reading the Tree Top Walks information bords.
There are so many different trees in this living tree library.
We took the little train.
Kew Garden is too big for walking.
A wonderful thing in growded London is,
that everywhere in Kew Garden there was space and not too many people.
The inside spaces were remarkable.
By that time we also started to be little cold. It was lovely to come in a warm greenhouse.

Marseille

We were in Marseille in April.
 It was cold.
There were only few people.
There were slippery slopes with breath taking views.
 There were most beautiful colours;
violet, blue-greens and sandy tones.
We got lost in a small town of Aubagne.
We had lunch at the Borely casttle.
