bright Finland

The light in Finland is bright and penetrating.
I must rub my eyes when I look outside. Here we are.
My son waked up last night afraid that all the snow had melted.
We are lucky to stay at my sister-in-laws apartment.
I have drank so much delicious tap water here.
So many familiar things and still I feel afloat.
My son asks me several times a day: "We are in Finland and not in Seattle".
It takes time to get over the emotional jet lag.

easter

We had an Easter party whit a chick cake and bagpipes.
We made some Easter branches
and wished everyone a good year to come.

Cs house was filled with flowers, when I came in for a good bye tea.
We all wore our best frocs.
C had made these really beautiful light switch cowers.

at the farm

We went with our friends to a farm in Bellevue.

kale and sausage

Here is my new friend Kale. It is between cabbage and salad.
I like it raw, my husband with a dressing.
I made lentils and sausages in the oven.
My other new friend Broil in the oven helped me.

spring

Spring is here. I feel joy.
I am leaving.
I feel sad that there is still snow where I am going.

guilty pleasures for women´s day

I have a confession to make: When my kid is in preschool, I relax. I don´t do laundry or anything like that, only things I like. Here I am eating a mint brownie with hot tea. I write my blog because that makes me really happy and then I watch Vampire Diaries on CW.

local grocery store

I was not expecting to have a grocery store at my own street here in Seattle.
I have a really nice store with everything fresh, organic and local and it is just across the street from us.
You can buy bulk nuts, rice, lentils and granola.
You can grain your own coffee and peanut butter.
You can also buy tea and herbs, the amount you prefer.
This is not unusual here in Seattle, but very different from Helsinki.
Local and organic can sometimes be even comical,
like in this picture of our condiments with Mr. All-About-The-Condiments.
