This cupboard was an impulse buy from the Stoneydown Folk Festival. I have for sometime wanted something like this for my new home. It is still in our old living room waiting the new home. All the things I could fill it up with!

un pique-nique
We have had such lovely weather. (Don´t I sound English, writing that!)
My son wants to have a picnic every day at our back garden.
Today it was nothing fancy, just chicken nuggets and toast.

To achieve a normal life
Yesterday I went for a Zumba class for the first time in a long while. I was happy and full of energy when I got home. I had forgotten how much fun exercise can be. Just can´t wait for next week. At the evening I watched TV. When ever I get homesick I watch Wallander on BBC. How the Swedes can film a summer evening! Why am I writing about such an everyday day things? Because now finally after an year living here I am in a place where I have time for things that lots of people do on a non-special days in their lives.

On a standstill
Helsinki at my background, I took this picture on a happy moment. Is it so that I can only be truly happy in Helsinki? As an immigrant I have a piece of me somewhere else. In London, I am past the tourist experience, but still struggling with settling. Lately I have felt that I am out of words, out of blogposts. It feel like I have taken all the conventional pictures and keep on repeating myself. With my pictures and with my life I am at a standstill.
Until couple of days ago this was how I felt. Now little by little I am moving again. I have plans for the fall, meaning a maybe job. My son is starting school in September. I have to buy him a school uniform?! And with my blog, I have decided to be less perfectionist. I will write my blog with sometimes bad pictures and sometimes just text about my life. After all my blog is a reflection of me and it helps with the feeling of being lost.
So, join me on this journey to become a person of two cultures! We have only began!

my birthday
I had my birthday on Monday. I was happy to get this weekday journal from my friend J from the Netherlands. J birthday letter was brilliant and it made me laugh. We have been sending each other birthday letter now for almost 15 years.
I got flowers and some lovely cardsfrom our neighbours.
This year I started a new tradition and bought myself a present. The peony is my favorite flower and it blooms around my birthday. I also bought Charlaine Harrises lates book. I really like reading it in the evening.
I had a cake picnic with friends from Finland in Hyde Park.
We are still building a lego castle with my son in the honor of my birthday. I have heard that people stop celebrating their birthdays when they grow up. I just think birthdays are too much fun to stop at 30.

mother´s day
I had my Mother´s day card today and some yummy breakfast last Sunday.
My best gift today was my own mother staying over for the week.
I promised my friend P to take part in the everyday challenge at Facebook. I never came around to it. Here are my pictures, suitable for Mother´s day,
because being a mother is making those little things everyday.
In the morning I spend time wiping of the condensation from our windows.
I do my shopping with this granny-van. How handy can something so ugly be.
On a sunny Saturday
I hang the mats outside and vacuum clean our apartment.
My son uses the time to do some parkour.
After cleaning we celebrate with ice cream.
